3 Things That Are Vital to Edit in AI-Generated Content

editing an AI blog

I know I’ve made it clear that I’m not a fan of AI-generated content, but the reality is that it is a powerful tool capable of being an important aid for businesses. So, if you’re going to use AI, at least do it the right way. There are a number of things to consider (read them here) when generating content from artificial intelligence, and editing the content should be at the top of your list. Here’s how to edit content the right way to get a better quality product.

Check for Plagiarism

Honestly, this is my biggest fear of using AI content. Simply prompting an AI app to generate content for you doesn’t mean that it’s all original ideas. In fact, it’s entirely not new! AI simply scans the internet for keywords on other websites and generates content in the length and format requested. This means it’s imperative to scan the returned content yourself and even utilize an app like Grammarly to check that the information is not plagiarizing another’s work or, at the very least, is properly cited.

Add in Authentic Details

I have a decent internet presence from my business, business social media, and a few media sources from fundraising events I’ve chaired or been involved with. So I thought that prompting Chat GPT to write a blog post about me would turn up at least ONE specific detail about me. I was very wrong. The resulting blog was so generic it could have been about 100 different people. It didn’t even mention BW Concepts, let alone a school or a fundraising event. That said, the wording wasn’t bad, it just was too broad. I could absolutely have used the bones of the blog and added in some meat with specific details and information to craft a more complete post.

Complete Formatting

AI-generated content is rich with keywords, but it can lack important formatting. Google Ranking Factors analyze a site in several ways, one of which is through ease of identifying and evaluating content. The more descriptions and formatting, the easier it is for web crawlers to work. Easy = better = higher SEO. So! Ensuring that your post has the appropriate headers, backlinks, keywords, and title is key.
