AI Blogs: Are the Robots Taking Over?

artificial intellegence blogs

I have been getting a ton of ads for AI (artificial intelligence) blog services in my social media feed lately. And while I was initially insulted, I had to admit I was kind of curious. I started my research with the comments on the ad, because who doesn’t love some great social media comments? They were pretty amusing—lots of talk about robots taking over the world, lazy people, etc. After some further research, I felt secure in telling you that as AI stands now, this isn’t a service that makes sense.

Is that self-serving? You betcha. But it’s also true. Here’s why.

What Are AI Blogs?

According to BMC Blogs, there are four types of AI machines:

  1. Reactive Machines
  2. Limited Memory
  3. Theory of Mind
  4. Self Aware

Most AI blogging services operate in the Limited Memory setting. Meaning they can store some previous data and predictions in order to make better predictions. This gets way deeper, so read more about it on the BMC Blogs site.

How Does It Work?

The product I looked at is called Jasper. After signing up, you can begin to have content created for website copy, social media, blogs, even books. Each piece starts with a form that the user completes which includes the topic, type (informational, imaginative, etc.), and even the tone of voice. Jasper then generates a paragraph that you can edit and rephrase before moving on to the next section.

Why I’m Not a Fan

Beyond the obvious that this service could steal clients and potential clients from me, I’m not a fan of AI blogs. Don’t get me wrong; I’m sure this is a great product for some people. I’m sure there are blogs out there that I’m reading and don’t know that they are written by AI. But AI isn’t perfect—and further, it doesn’t understand your client base the way you do. Even with all the data available, AI doesn’t know what your ideal client’s problem is or how your product or service can solve it.

Further, you still have to work on the post! Yes, it’s likely faster than creating actual copy yourself, but there’s still editing and also still the risk of incorrect or bad data. At least with a human, you can call and tell them. Robots are notorious for screening calls (robot humor).

Hire Humans

When you work with BW Concepts, your blog is only as involved as you want to be. Most of my clients enjoy having a brainstorming session about once a quarter to talk through blog topic ideas, upcoming events, or holidays that are important to their business, new products or services, etc. And some clients prefer when I come up with the topics and then we discuss any important details. But from there, the client gets to be hands-off. I create compelling and informative content that is professionally edited and is SEO optimized as well. The client gets a final review and then BW Concepts handles scheduling and posting. It’s a great service that allows my clients to have input and knowledge of their blog content, without it taking up too much of their time.

I absolutely love what I do. Meeting small business owners and getting to understand what they do and their goals is always such a treat. My brain immediately begins to sort details and craft a plan. I am an expert at developing strategic content for small businesses that feed not only blogs but social media posts and newsletters too. I make each of these aspects work together to create interesting, attractive, and—most importantly—effective digital content. So, let’s talk! Visit my contact page, and let’s discuss your business goals and how BW Concepts can help you achieve them.
